* No cultures had bedrooms until the Sumerians

* People would sleep in the same room, on the floor

* Eventually, the head of the household would be able to sleep in a bed, while the rest of the family would sleep on the floor.

* The Egyptians were the first culture to raise the bed off the floor to avoid the cold.
